Consultation workshop on reviewing and adjusting the plan for protection, restoration and sustainable development of the Central Highlands was held in 5 provinces since October 9th to October 13th, 2017

To implement the Prime Minister's instruction in Announcement No. 191/TB-VPCP dated July 22th, 2016 by the Government office on the conclusion of the Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc at the Conference:  Measures for sustainable forest restoration in the Central Highlands to respond to climate change in 2016 – 2020. The Vietnam Administration of Forestry promulgated the Decision No. 465/QD-TCLN-KHTC dated October 31th, 2016 on the implementation of Program "Reviewing and adjusting the plan for protection, restoration, and sustainable forest development in the Central Highlands until 2025 with orientation to 2030" and assigning the Forest Protection Department to coordinate with Institute for Forest Ecology and Environment - Vietnam National University of Forestry, Research Institute for Forest Ecology and Environment - Vietnamese Academy of Forest Sciences (consultants) to review and adjust the plan for forest protection, restoration and sustainable development in the Central Highlands. Up to now, Consultants had completed the survey, data collection and drafted the report "Reviewing and adjusting the plan for protection, restoration, and sustainable forest development in the Central Highlands until 2025 with the orientation to 2030".

The workshop was held at Department of Agriculture and Rural Development hall of 5 Central Highlands provinces from 09 - 13/10/2017, for more specific: 09/10/2017 at Kon Tum, 10/10/2017 at Gia Lai, 11/10/2017 at Dak Lak, 12/10/2017 at Dak Nong and 13/10/2017 at Lam Dong. In each province, representative leader and officers in charge  of planning were attended thoroughly and contributed ideas about forestry planning status as well as expectations, proposes of their provinces for the report: protection, restoration and sustainable development of Central Highlands to develop the most appropriate Planning for each province

Participants of each province including:

  • Department of Agriculture and Rural Development: Leader of the forestry sector (host), Leader and official of Finance - Planning Committee Division.
  • Department of Natural Resources and Environment: Leader and official in charge
  • Department of Finance: Leader and official in charge.
  • Forest Protection Department: Leaders of Divisions, Department Leaders and Officials from Department of Forest Management and Protection and Nature Conservation; Forest Utilization.
  • Leaders of People’s Committee of Districts, Leader of  Forest Department at the district level.
  • Vietnam Administration of Forestry: Forest Protection Department, Department of Planning and Finance.
  • Planning Department - Mistry of Agriculture and Rural Development
  • Consulting unit: Institute for Forest Ecology and Environment and Research Institute for Forest Ecology and Environment.
