Launching workshop of bidding: Development of investment maps for communes in FMCR project area in Ha Tinh province

On the morning of September 22, 2020, at Ngan Ha Hotel, Ha Tinh Province, the FMCR CPMU collaborated with the Provincial People's Committee and the Ha Tinh PPMU and the Institute for Forest Ecology and Environment (Consultant Unit) organize a launching workshop of bidding package: Inventory, surveying in the field, updating the available forest status maps to develop the investment maps of communes in the project provinces of Nghe An and Ha Tinh.

Forest Sector Modernization and Coastal Resilience Enhancement Project - FMCR implemented in 8 provinces / cities: Quang Ninh, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Thua Thien Hue and Hai Phong. The project aims to improve coastal forest management to increase resilience to the adverse effects of weather events and sea level rise. Some important contents of the Project are to provide the technology and finance to: protect, restore, and plant new coastal forests. To achieve this content, the project must accurately identify the area to be conducted: protect, restore, and plant new coastal forests on the map and in the field in each administrative unit of project's province.
Consulting service "Inventory, surveying in the field, updating the available forest status maps to develop the investment maps of communes in the project provinces of Nghe An and Ha Tinh." assigned to the Institute for Forest Ecology and Environment for implementation from September 8, 2020. The service's objectives include analyzing and interpreting available spatial data at an appropriate resolution and developing a coastal forest status map for all selected communes in the two project provinces - Nghe An and Ha Tinh (including other communes outside the project area to propose adding new communes to participate in project implementation). These maps will be used to classify coastal forests and forestland for different purposes: afforestation, new planting, forest protection and project interventions.
The workshop was organized to introduce objectives and unify the way to deploy the package in Ha Tinh province. This is an indispensable step to ensure that the bidding package is implemented on schedule and in the right direction according to the TOR of the package and the requirements of the related parties. The participants of this Workshop include:
- Representatives of FMCR CPMU;
- Representative of project sponsor - World Bank;
- Representative of People's Committee of Ha Tinh province;
- Representatives of Project Management Board of investment and construction of agricultural and rural development works in Ha Tinh province;
- Representatives of Departments, Branches, Provincial Forest Protection Departments, District Forest Ranger Departmentsand People's Committees of Ky Anh, Cam Xuyen, Loc Ha, Nghi Xuan, Thach Ha Districts, Ha Tinh city, Ky Anh town.
